What is PMAC?
The Peer-to-Peer Market Advisory Council (PMAC), is a network of market leaders and advisors comprised of medical officers, medical directors, pharmacy directors and top executives from multiple managed market and clinical organizations across the US healthcare system.
PMAC is an independent organization, owned and managed by Dr. Schumarry Chao, a nationally recognized advisor and consultant on healthcare system issues. The network also has a cross-segment Board of Advisors to govern its charter and ensure market advisors receive valuable insights through their participation.
PMAC seeks to create a better way to have a mutually beneficial dialogue between advisors and companies seeking to improve their products and services. Based on this premise, the goals of PMAC are simple:
- Create and facilitate a trusted environment for open dialogue and information sharing
- Make information sharing mutually beneficial to participating individuals and companies
- Make it easier for interested individuals and companies to have compliant interactions and information exchange
The network is organized into multiple satellite groups by market segment, functional area, geographic location or therapeutic specialty. Segments represented include:
- Health Plans
- PBMs
- Employers and Business Coalitions
- Disease Management Organizations
- Medical Groups
- Benefits Consultants
- Academia
Why PMAC?
PMAC was created in response to the increasing strain on relationships between professionals working in healthcare management and manufacturers offering products and services. The regulatory and public opinion environments make it increasingly difficult for individuals working in healthcare management to act as contractual advisors to manufacturers. Likewise, manufacturers are placing additional internal restrictions on the quantity and nature of advisory board activities. However, there is value in an open and appropriate exchange of information between healthcare management professionals and manufacturers.
PMAC works with clients to provide timely insights on a number of different topics including marketplace needs, product and service offerings, reactions to clinical and health economics data, views on product positioning and value, and overall perspectives on healthcare issues and developments.
PMAC’s unique structure provides the following benefits enabling participating manufacturers to get the information they need when they need it:
- Offering an unbiased, third party entity founded and led by an Advisor
- Providing access to unbiased, uncensored perspective of top decision makers in the managed market arena
- Embedding content expertise in the PMAC network to optimally structure interactions, and analyze and interpret results
- Providing timely insights through rapid set up and feedback processes
- Offering a win-win solution for both life sciences companies and managed market advisors
